SIALKOT: The local traders on Thursday observed five-hours long complete strike by keeping the local Sasta Ramzan Bazaar closed in Chawinda to lodge their strong protest against alleged rising political interference in Sasta Ramazan Bazaar’s matters, besides, thrashing of some local traders by local MPA’s advisor in Sasta Ramzan Bazaar Chawinda , Pasrur tehsil.
According to details, a local accused Raees Ahmed, posing himself as the advisor to Pasrur based MPA Ch. Munawar Ali Gill, reached the Sasta Ramazan Bazaar at Chawinda, in Pasrur tehsil and started checking the prices of daily used commodities.
He went to the stalls of different beverages and asked the vendors not to sell the beverage on exorbitant rates. They said that they were selling beverages as per the rates given by the local administration.
On this, accused Raees started abusing, thrashing and torturing the venders and traders and fled away. After this, the traders went on strike after closing the Sasta Ramazan Bazaar at Chawinda. They strongly protested against this nasty incident and rising political interference in Sasta Ramzan Bazaar matters.
The local traders led by Mehmood Ansari (President Anjuman Tajraan Chawinda), Haji Saeed Butt (Vice President) and Malik Zahid Mehmood (General Secretary) staged an a sit-in there, demanding early registration of a case against the accused and his early arrest, in this regard.
The protesting traders kept the Sasta Ramazan Bazaar Chawinda closed for five consecutive hours (from 07:00 am to 12:00 pm) on Thursday as a protest, in this regard.
They added that the political interference in Sasta Ramzan Bazaar Chawinda was rising, due to which the trade matters were badly disrupted.
Later, Assistant Commissioner Pasrur Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema negotiated with the protesting traders and assured them stern legal action against the accused, besides, assuring their protection. On this assurance, the traders called off their strike and resumed the Sasta Ramazan Bazaar.
