SIALKOT: A large number of people including women and children on Tuesday remained stranded at the bus stops due to non-availability of public transport vehicles followed by severe patrol shortage in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils.
Women were also found angry with the government for remaining unable to curb the menace of the week-long patrol non-availability. Taking advantage of this situation, the three-wheeler auto rickshaw drivers overcharged the fares.
They charged almost more than double fares from the people for their inter-city transportation from a place to another in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur, Badiana, Chawinda and surrounding areas.
The rickshaw drivers said that they got petrol on inflated rates thus they were overcharging the fares. The public transport on Tuesday remained very thin on all the main roads, as the people and public transporters averted to bring the vehicles on the roads due to seven days long non-availability of petrol in Sialkot region.
