SIALKOT: The five government women colleges have been running without their principals in Sialkot district for the last several months. Though, the junior lecturers were performing their duties as principals there, however the educational and administrative activities were being badly affected.
According to the details, Govt. College for Women Bhopalwala, Sambrial tehsil had been working since 2011, where the sanctioned post of college principal was Grade 19 but an assistant professor of Grade 18 is working as principal there.
In Govt. Girls Degree College Qila Kalarwala, Pasrur tehsil, as Grade 17 junior lecturer was holding the additional charge of the post of principal of Grade 19 there.
The sanctioned post of principal of Govt. Allama Iqbal College for Women Sialkot is of Grade 19 where as assistant professor of Grade 18 has been working as principal.
No principal has yet been appointed and posted at Govt. College for Women Chawinda, Pasrur tehsil due to which all the academic and administrative activities had been lying suspended there. The provincial educational department had approved and sanctioned the posting of a principal, eleven teaching staff and thirteen clerical and junior staff for this college in 2009 (five years ago), but no appointment has yet been there.
The post of the principal has also been lying vacant at Govt. College for Women Sokan Wind, Pasrur tehsil here for the last year.
Meanwhile, a Grade 18 assistant professor is working as principal against the Grade 20 post of the principal after his retirement two months ago.
Local social, educational and political circles have urged the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Commissioner Gujranwala Division Khawaja Shamail Ahmed and Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu to look into the matter in the larger interest of the local students.
