KARACHI: Joint Action Committee of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and National Institute of Health Child (NICH) employees on Tuesday decided to completely boycott the OPDs duties of both institutions on 28th May against non-payment of health professional allowance to health employees.
An Executive Member of Joint Action Committee JPMC & NICH Karachi Zaryab Hayat Tiwana said employees of both institutions have decided to completely boycott OPDs duties on 28th May against non-payment of health allowance. He said all departments, excluding emergency department, will remain close on protest day.
He said all three other provinces were giving health allowances to employees of public healthcares devolved to provinces under 18th Amendment but in Sindh province, the employees of JPMC and NICH have been deprived of theis right since last five years.
He said high-ups of provincial health department Sindh had assured provision of health professional allowance to employees on past several occasions but their promises could not be fulfilled yet. He said an estimated 3,000 employees have not been paid health professional allowances since last several years.
He informed that Joint Action Committee JPMC & NICH Karachi had sent a letter to Chief Minister Sindh, Health Minister Sindh, Chief Secretary Sindh and other high- up for solving the issue on priority basis but no positive response could be received yet.
He said health employees does not want to cause inconvenience to visiting patients and urged them to stop visiting these institutions on Thursday, 28th May.
