KC EU welcomes US State Department’s report on IOK


Brussels: Kashmir Council EU Chairman Ali Raza Syed has highly appreciated a recently report released by the US State Department on human rights situation in occupied Kashmir.

In its report, the State Department said, “Indian authorities are using Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to avoid holding its armed forces accountable for accusations of human rights abuses”.

According to the report, the Indian authorities and their agents are committing arbitrary or unlawful killings including extra judicial killings in Jammu and Kashmir.

The 68-page document quoting NGOs says that due to immunity provisions of the black law Armed Forces Special Powers Act, the armed forces are not held responsible for the deaths of civilians killed in Kashmir.

In a statement in Brussels, Ali Raza Syed said that the report is a prove of horrible situation of human rights in Indian Held Kashmir as the Indian authorities are involved in severe crimes against the humanity in the disputed territory.

The report has also clearly revealed that Indian government allow its forces in IHK to killed and kidnapped the innocent and peaceful people of Jammu and Kashmir, he said by terming the report a moral victory of people of Kashmir.
