Larkana campus of SU still in limbo

LARKANA: Important educational project of Sindh University campus at Larkana is still in limbo as lethargic bureaucracy is not interested in providing higher educational facilities to the student of this area.

A PC-1 amounting to Rs1540 million has already been sent to Sindh Government for approval and inclusion in ADP for establishment of Larkana Campus of Sindh University. However, it is still pending for approval, said SU Vice Chancellor Imdad Ali during his meeting at Circuit House held recently with MNA Ayaz Soomro who has been entrusted with the task of resolving the problems faced by the students enrolled in the Campus here by the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

The VC further informed him that Forest Department has also been approached to give 100 acres of its land for the construction of buildings & hostels for the campus but the same is also awaited as yet they have done nothing in this connection. He further said that as and when the PC-1 is approved, amount is sanctioned and land is handed over to them, the construction work of the campus will be started after which the campus will start its functioning properly with provision of all required facilities.

The VC further said that 6 or 7 more lecturers will be appointed in the campus for which very soon advertisement will be issued in the newspapers. He said that computers are available in the campus but there is problem of internet facilities which is to be provided by PTCL.

The VC demanded provision of three more temporary rooms for the campus which shows that the rush of the students is constantly rising. It may be mentioned here that the students of the campus have been agitating since long for provision of all required facilities to them to acquire better quality education but they have so far been denied their basic right.
