THATTA: Hundreds of Lady Health Workers on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration outside the Thatta Press Club against department of health for not issuing them Eid salary and also their unpaid four-month salaries of previous months.
Several lady health workers carrying banners and placards in their hands took part in the protest rally that marched from the National Highway to Thatta press club.
The annoyed health workers shouted slogans against the government for not paying them salaries since four months. They staged a sit-in and blocked the main road for several hours.
The rally was led by Ms Sahiba Palari, Ms Ghulam Fatima Sirai and Ms Tasleem Baloch in which hundreds of lady health workers participated and raised voice for their demands.
On the occasion, Sahiba Palari said that the government has regularized their jobs but still they are not getting their salaries on the time. She said they were ignored even on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr; however, they want to celebrate Eid with peace of mind. She said they have been working in different health projects running in the province including polio drive.
However, the protest was ended when assistant commissioner assured them to resolve their genuine issue of salary soon and asked them to form a committee comprising five members for initiating the discussions with deputy commissioner.
