One more ward closed in Thatta hospital

Thatta: One more ward went closed in the Civil Hospital Thatta, increasing the number of the closes wards to four and compelling poor patients of the district to visit Karachi for their medical treatment.

The recently closed ward of the Civil Hospital Thatta is the ENT ward. Earlier the ICU Unit of the hospital was also closed and now in whole district the intensive care facility is no more available in any government hospital. Moreover, the cardiology and TB wards of the hospital was also closed down due to unavailability of doctors and negligence of Sindh health department.

The Sui gas company has already severed the gas connection of the hospital due to non-payment of bills, while the hospital braves 10-hours a day load shedding, which is really a troubling matter for patients and doctors. Many surgeries are postponed only because the unavailability of electricity.

Thatta district is called a fortress of the ruling PPP, but the district is badly neglected by the rulers of Sindh. Local citizens and traders have already protested against the closure of wards in the Civil Hospital Thatta and asked the health minister Jam Mahtab Hussain to take urgent notice of the situation and order opening of the closed wards and ensuring facility of the standby power generator in the hospital.
