LARKANA: Commissioner Larkana Division, Ghulam Akbar Laghari, said on Sunday that that over 5.2 lac cusecs of flood will pass through Guddu Barrage.
This he informed while addressing Larkana Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s meeting here in which businessmen, traders and shopkeepers participated. He said there are 8/9 sensitive points in Larkana division out of which 3 to 4 are in Larkana district, which are being monitored day & night.
Laghari said that monsoon rains had been forecasted in Larkana from Monday to Thursday, July 30 during which 200 mm rain is expected to fall but we have already completed all precautionary measures to face the situation. He said NSUSC had been instructed to clean the drains of garbage immediately and dewatering pumps should also be kept in ready position to drain out accumulated rain.
Commissioner Laghari said that work on 10 new disposals was underway, out of which five had been completed, and 50% work of remaining five disposals pumps would be completed soon and then it will be inaugurated by MNA Faryal Talpur, he added.
Laghari further said that repair of more 4/5 disposal pumps had also been made recently. Laghari said that overflowing sewerage water very badly damage roads. He further said that encroachments will soon be removed from Larkana and traffic system will also be improved which will considerably reduce frequent traffic jams which is an old complaint of the residents.
Deputy Commissioner Javed Jagirani said that Larkana municipality budget was in minus four million rupees and now it is saving which will also be used for the betterment & beautification of the city. Jagirani said that 8/9 parks have been renovated for the amusement of the residents. He said Daewo Bus service will soon be started here and vegetable Mandi will be shifted out of Larkana adding that cattle colony scheme has also been got approved and very soon cattle pans will be shifted out of Larkana. He further said that two overhead bridges will also be constructed here due to which traffic jam issue will be decreased adding that drainage system needs further improvement.
