PMA Larkana continues protest against threats to doctors


Larkana, Sindh: Pakistan Medical Association, Larkana Chapter, has announced to continue protest till proper security is provided to the doctors and criminals are arrested who are involved in firing on doctors.

In a press release, PMA President, Dr. Shah Baig Chandio, said that Dr. Ghulam Fareed Khuhawar has been abducted from Warah a few days ago and yet to be recovered by the police. He said that land grabbers are threatening lady doctor Hafeeza Begum & Dr. Zulfiqar Rahujo to vacate their clinic or face the consequences but the police of Kambar-Shahdadkot district has so far failed to take any action against the mafia.

On Saturday, all OPDs were boycotted from 10.00 am onward including main OPD of Chandka Hospital, Paeds Medicine OPD, Shaikh Zaid Hospital for Women OPD and Ophthalmology OPD to register their protest against firing incident on Dr. Khaliq-ur-Rahman Soomro, Senior Demonstrator of Chandka Medical College three days ago in Larkana at his private clinic.

Dr. Ikram Tunio and other doctors said that their struggle will continue till the culprits involved in the above crimes are brought to justice and the kidnapped doctor Khuhawar is recovered from the captivity of the dacoits.

They said that the doctor community of two twin districts of Kambar-Shahdadkot and Larkana are feeling completely insecure due to inefficiency of concerned district’s police.

They demanded restoration of government writ so that people should not suffer. They warned that if their demands are not accepted they will start full struggle from Monday which will spread to the whole province.
