Prime Minister-Gwadar

GWADAR: Prime Minster Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that political and military leadership is on one page with regard to the development of country. To bring Pakistan in the comity of developed nations is our unanimous and combined decision and we are untied over it. We desire to make Gwadar free ort on the pattern of Dubai, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Rupees 162 billion have been earmarked for Balochistan for Pak-china economic corridor project.

He expressed these views while addressing a high level meeting about development projects here Thursday.

Earlier Prime Minister was accorded warm welcome upon arrival here today. Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif received Prime Minister at PNS Akram.

Commander Southern Command Lt General Nasser Khan Janjua, Commander Coast Rear Admiral Arif Al Hussaini were also present.

Prime minister said that federal institutions Army, FC, and Police role for peace and order in the province is laudable. Provincial Government was showing excellent performance and Chief Minister was bringing in good reforms.

He said 17 year ago we had taken decision about development of Gwadar and gave an agenda. Development of Gwadar is our desire and commitment. It is Pakistan’s best area which unfortunately has been ignored always. No attention was paid on it which it deserved. It should have become free port till now.

He said Pakistan’s military and political leadership is at one page about development of the country. It is our combined decision that Pakistan should be put on road to progress and it should be included in the comity of developed countries. We have scheduled a meeting in Gwadar today to resolve its problems. We are taking decisions about Gwadar in the area. He said it is his desire Gwadar should be made free port like Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore. It has all needs and requirements. All institutions including Government and military would work jointly for the development of the country.

Prime Minister was briefed on Pak-China Economic Corridor and development projects in Gwadar.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Pervez Rasheed, Prime Minister’s adviser Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and provincial Minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal were also present.

Later speaking to Newsmen Prime Minister told that Rupees 162 billion have been allocated for Balochistan for the Pak-China Economic Corridor. Airport and Gwadar Port would also be expanded. He said with the development of Gwadar a new era of development of Balochistan would take place. He said this area should become hub of trade not only for Balochistan but for entire region. He said 19 Km modern road would be built to connect Port and airport. He said Frontier Works Organisation role for development of roads is appreciable. He said interest of local populace would be cared of in the development of Gwadar. Special force would be constituted for peace and order and security in Gwadar. He said we would lay network of roads in Balochistan during this period. He said special arrangements were being adopted for the security of Chinese working for Gwadar Port so that all projects of economic corridor are completed without any fear.

He said clean water projects in Balochistan would be implemented while 300-bed hospital and technical training centre would also be established in Gwadar.

Prime Minister said that at today’s meeting detailed discussion has been held about development and peace and order situation in Gwadar. Role of Federal institutions, Army, FC and police is praise worthy. Meeting held in detail Pak-China Economic Corridor.

He said Provincial government was working very nicely and Chief Minister was bringing in good reforms and showing good ruling ability. He was eliminating culture of bribery and sifarish. He said Chief Minister standing on his right and Army chief on left. We are untied for country’s progress and peace and stability. We would steer country of difficulties. It is commitment of us all and Army chief.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said that we are thankful to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for taking keen interest in the development of the province. He aid for the first time 78 percent budget has been released in provincial history. Balochistan has received Rupees 110 billion under NFC award.
