Solid Waste Management Board to takeover Larkana
LARKANA:A high level meeting was held at Circuit House here on Sunday under the chairmanship of Sindh’s Local Bodies Minister Saeed Ghani which was participated by Larkana Mayor Aslam Shaikh, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique, Chairmen of various Union Committees of Larkana and others to discuss disposal of sewerage waste water, cleanliness and removal of garbage from the headquarter city which once was called Paris of Larkana. The provincial minister was given detailed briefing about the sanitation issues existing since last ten years but have not yet been resolved. After the meeting Saeed Ghani spoke to media persons and said after taking U-Turns Prime Minister Imran Khan is not reliable, people are not taking any statement of Khan Sahib seriously because they think he will soon take U-Turn. He said after the decision of Supreme Court, institutions, police and Rangers became powerful adding now we will remove encroachments easily and after apex court orders peaceful operation was completed in Saddar and Empress Market, Karachi. He said in Larkana, Mayor and DC will jointly decided about removal of encroachments. He claimed that no city is ideal in the country as far as cleanliness is concerned. Minister Saeed Ghani said that decision of shifting Anwar Majid is unfair. He said soon Solid Waste Management Board will take over Larkana for which he has already talked with its Managing Director to visit Larkana. He said all local bodies institutions can utilize their budget after getting it passed from their respective councils for which they don’t need to get permission from Local Government Department.
When he came out after talking to media, 55 Larkana Municipal Corporation employees held protest demonstration and they also staged sit-in in front of his official vehicle demanding payment of six months’ outstanding salary. They called off their protest when the minister assured them in writing that their salaries will be paid to them.
