Larkana: Special Exhumation Board consisting of specialists of Chandka Medical College & Hospital, Larkana, has found that two real sisters namely Shahnawaz alias Shani Mahar and Reema alias Hayataan Mahar died due to ‘Ligature Strangulation’, PPI learnt on Saturday.
The Exhumation Board was constituted under the directives of the District & Sessions Judge, Shikarpur, in crime No: 14 of 2014 of Chak police station of Shikarpur district under section 302 & 201 of PPC.
The Director General Health Services Sindh constituted the Board vide his letter dated: 07th April, 2014, consisting of Dr. Dost Muhammad Shaikh, Additional Medical Superintendent of Chandka medical College Hospital, Larkana, as Chairman, Dr. Haresh Chand Professor of Pathology, Dr. Rasheed Pathan Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine, Dr. Rahim Baloch, Acting Police Surgeon and Dr. Naila Shaikh, WMO of Taluka Hospital, Lakhi.
The board members along with the police and Civil & Judicial Magistrate, Lakhi, went to the place of burial of two dead bodies which is jointly owned by Amanullah Mahar & Rahmatullah Mahar near village Kamil @ Deh Fatehpur.
Accused Niaz Ali Mahar, who was in police custody at Chak police station, pointed out the burial place and identified the dead bodies.
The SHO Chak informed the Judicial Magistrate that no one from the relatives of deceased girls is willing to attend the proceeding or receive the dead bodies and the accused Niaz Ali Mahar informed the Civil Judge that he is blood relative of both girls and he was present at the time of their burial.
Complainant of the case Abdullah Mahar was also called by the I.O. of the case to further identify the bodies or claim their burial. He was produced subsequently in custody. He said that he has no concern with the matter and he also did not claim the dead bodies.
Sources further said that two currency notes of 1000 rupees were also found near dead body of Shahnawaz @ Shani bearing serial numbers EW 6612009 and FT 4488182 they were sealed on the spot by the IO.
The board members found a cloth wrapped around the chest & neck of Shahnawaz alias Shani. Bodies were later on handed over by medical board to PC Hazoor Bux Tanwari before ASP Shikarpur and IO of the case for further procedure/burial as no claimant was available.
According to media reports, a jirga settled a dispute of killing two girls over Karo-kari. Ill-fated girls Shahnawaz alias Shani Mahar and Reema Mahar were allegedly killed by their families in the jurisdiction of Jahan Khan police station under the allegation of having illicit relations with some men belonging to Jagirani community.
