SIALKOT: Federal Minister for Defense, Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has ruled out the early possibility of giving any time frame regarding the end of ongoing anti-terrorism operation by armed forces of Pakistan in North Waziristan Agency (NWA). He said that the operation will continue till the complete elimination of terrorism, militancy and insurgency from all the tribal areas of Pakistan.
He narrated that any announcement of time frame to end this military operation was not possible at the moment. However, the government will take all the mainstream political parties into confidence over this burning issue of eradication of terrorism and early rehabilitation and repatriation of the IDPs from North Waziristan Agency (NWA).
He stated this while talking to the newsmen at his residence here Sunday. He said that during the persisting circumstances it was very difficult to give a time frame for ending the Pak military’s ongoing Zarb-e-Azab operation against terrorism. He said that the operation was successfully moving ahead with the prayers of nation. However, the government would ensure efforts for early completion of this operation, he added.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the whole nation stands united against terrorism and was ready to sacrifice even their lives while battling against the terrorism, militancy and insurgency shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan. He added that the PML-N government was fully aware of the internal and external dangers and was making hectic efforts to cope with them. He said the government was committed to weed out terrorism from the country with cooperation of the masses, as the whole nation stands united against it in the country.
Talking about the ongoing media war among the TV channels, Khawaja Muhammad Asif asked the media to come forward and play its pivotal role and to perform its national obligation to serve the nation in true spirit.
Later, addressing the party workers, Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the armed forces of Pakistan have the full capability to uproot terrorism from the country, besides ensuring establishment of durable peace and rule of law in the country.
He said that the present government was also strengthening the national institutions through promoting the durable democracy, as there was rule of law in the country.
Federal Minister also listened public problems and issued on the spot orders to redress of public grievances on several applications submitted by the people to him. Local MPAs Ch. Muhammad Ikram, Ch. Arshad Warraich and local PML-N leaders Mehmoodul Hassan Babar Khan, Shujaat Ali Pasha and others were also present on this occasion.
