LARKANA: A two days training workshop has been organized on Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) by Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) from 23rd to 24th July in Karachi, in collaboration with National AIDS Control Program, to train doctors who will treat/manage HIV/AIDS patients in future and also for those who are already working in ART centres to update & refresh their knowledge.
SACP is planning to open five new treatment & care centres in high risk districts regarding HIV/AIDS in the revised PC-1 for 2015-18 which they have already prepared. These new treatment centres which are yet to be established include HIV/AIDS Centre for Paeds in Larkana and four centres for adults each in Nawabshah, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas & Hyderabad.
These five centres will start work along with trained staff, doctors and required drugs in the future. In Larkana Centre as many as 990 HIV/AIDS positive patients have so far been registered and the number is constantly rising day by day.
One positive patient was recently admitted in the Medical Unit-1 of Chandka Hospital for treatment.
