SIALKOT: Two notorious proclaimed offenders (POs) were shot dead by some unknown armed accused during an attack on them under police custody on the banks of Marala-Ravi-Link (M.R.Link) Canal near Motra-Daska here tonight.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daska Engineer Rana Zahid Hussain told that Motra police was taking the both notorious proclaimed offenders (POs) Ghulam Nabi Pathani (Chunian-Kasur District) and Arif alias Arifu Oadh (Sadiqabad) for recovery in eight different cases towards Motra, when as many as four unknown armed accused suddenly started firing on the POs, killing them on the spot. Accused fled away firing in the air.
DSP Daska added that Daska police had arrested both accused few days ago. He said that they were wanted by the Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Rawalpindi, Multan, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Faisalabad , Kasur and Lahore police in more than 110 cases of dacoity, robbery, murder and kidnapping.
The accused had been running an inter-province gang of dacoits across Punjab and both slain POs earlier had been jailed for four times each in different cases and were bailed out by the local courts, the DSP added.
Police shifted the dead bodies to Daska Civil Hospital for autopsy. Daska police had arrested both accused.
