Villagers protest against low gas pressure

NAUDERO, Sindh: The residents of more than 10 nearby villages held protest demonstration here on Monday, staged sit-in in front of local gas office and on Allahwala roundabout, blocked main road, burnt tyres and chanted slogans against Sui gas load shedding in their villages due to which their womenfolk are forced to cook food over burning wood, dung and bushes.

These villages included Bhoonbhatpur, Phulpota, Izzat Ji Wandh, Rahuja, Mitho Khakhrani and others. They arrived on tractor trolleys in large numbers.

After protest in front of Sui gas office and burning tyres, they marched towards Press Club here and held massive demonstration chanting slogans against the worst gas load shedding which has, according to them, crippled their lives in these villages. Nobody was allowed to cross during sit-in, which continued for an hour, as the protesters were holding cudgels in their hands and resisted even passenger buses who wanted to cross the protest to save their time due to which scuffles also took place between them but police prevented any untoward incident.

Mushtaque Rahujo, Najaf Rahujo, Khalil Abro, Wajid Khakhrani, Sajid Abro and others told Media that they were assured by the SSGC gas station incharge during their previous protest that pressure will be released but he failed to honour his commitment hence they had no other option but to come out on roads once again. They said that out of 24 hours gas is supplied to them only for 2 hours which is unjust & deprive them of their basic necessities.

They warned that if the issue is not resolved immediately they will enlarge the scope of their protest.
