6 killed, 60 injured as train blown near Jacobabad

JACOBABAD: Six passengers including three children were killed and over 60 injured in when Khushal Express train was blown near here Sunday. Three coaches were destroyed while our bogeys were derailed. Another bomb found along the track was defused.

According to details rail track was blown in an explosion by remote control bomb between Tangwani and Thul areas near Jacobabad today. About two feet portion of rail was destroyed. Khushal Express train from Karachi to Peshawar was passing on the track at that time. As a result of explosion three bogeys were completely destroyed while four derailed.

Five passengers including three minor children were killed on the scene. They included children Muhammad Hussain (6), Rasheed Ahmed (8), Rafiq Ahmed (10) and Muhammad Shabaan (55). A sixth Muharram Malik (10) later died at Larkana hospital. Sixth body could not be identified as its head was separated from his body.

Over sixty passengers were injured. Condition of ten of them is stated to be serious. Dead and wounded were shifted to hospitals in Thul, Jacobabad and Kandhkot and others where emergency has been sounded and injured passengers were being provided medical aid on emergency basis. Police, Rangers and other sensitive agencies officials cordoned the area.
