SIALKOT: The special SNGPL Task Force teams continued their crack down and detected 81- illegal gas connections of compressors and meters, which were being used with the malpractice of SNGPL by some local leading industrialists and politically influential persons in Gujranwala Division’s six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.
According to the SNGPL Regional General Manager Qaisar Masud Khan, the SNGPL has suspended from service five SNGPL officials, who were found directly or indirectly involved in gas theft and were helping the local leading industrialists and politically influential accused persons with their mutual malpractice. He said that SNGPL has already started a strict departmental probe against 18 SNGPL officials for their alleged corruption, in this regard.
He told the newsmen that the SNGPL teams have sent the gas meters of 310 CNG stations, 947 industrial units and 1200 commercial connections to Lahore laboratories for their examination there.
He claimed that the gas theft and lines losses have now reduced to 12 percent from 17 percent.
He added that the SNGPL has finalized an effective strategy to launch a massive crackdown against the “big fish”, as 24 special SNGPL teams have already jazzed up the pace of recovery , in this regard.
