SIALKOT: The clerical staff in all the 124 urban and rural union councils in Sialkot district, Thursday, observed peaceful strike as a protest against the month-long shortage of the NADRA security papers, to be used for issuing the computerized birth, death and marriage certificates to the people.
They staged sit-in in their respective union councils in district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, demanding early release of the NADRA security papers to facilitate the people.
Later, the secretaries of the union councils also joined the strike. They pointed out that there was acute shortage of the NADRA security papers in district’s 124 union councils, due to which issuance of the computerized birth, death and marriage certificates etc had been lying suspended for the last one month. They added that the people have been suffering from great ordeal, in this regard.
Meanwhile, Assistant Director NADRA Sialkot District Sabir Aziz Ghauri confirmed that there was acute shortage of the said NADRA security papers. He said that this situation had already been brought into the notice of NADRA higher ups in Lahore and Islamabad and they had assured the early provision of the said security papers to all the union councils in Sialkot district, he added.
