Gill moves LHC for bail, details of cases against him

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former SAPM, Shahbaz Gill on Wednesday moved Lahore High Court to seek protective bail and details of cases registered against him. The federal and Punjab governments and others have been made respondents in the plea filed by Dr Shahbaz Gill with the LHC.

The PTI leader in his plea filed through Barrister Ahmed Bansota stated that despite permission from the court to travel abroad for four weeks, he was ‘harassed’ at the airport and was told about the registration of five more cases. “We don’t have information about new cases,” Gill said in his plea and added that FIRs were being registered against him on ‘political’ revenge. The court after the initial hearing issued notices to the respondents and sought a reply from them by April 6 (tomorrow).

It may be noted that on March 29, the Lahore High Court (LHC) allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former SAPM Shahbaz Gill to travel to the United States (US) for four weeks. A three-member bench headed by the LHC chief justice heard Gill’s petition filed against the inclusion of his name in the Exit Control Lists (ECL).
