Govt. urged to compensate grieved family of slain Shaukat Ali

SIALKOT: Despite passing of a week to the brutal assassination of Sialkot based Pakistani prisoner Shaukat Ali in an Indian jail, the Government of Pakistan and Government of Punjab have not yet announced any financial compensation for the grieved family of him.

Talking to the newsmen at village Siyal Jattan-Sabzpeer in Sialkot district’s Pasrur tehsil here Friday, Barkat Ali (70 years old), the father of slain Shaukat Ali urged the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to take up the matter of brutal assassinations of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails and globally pressurize India to halt such incidents in future.

He expressed grave concern over this sad demise, saying that this death has raised the curtain from the face of India, which has miserably failed to protect the prisoners in Indian jails.

The local people have urged the Pakistan government to declare slain Shaukat Ali as a National Hero of Pakistan and have demanded compensation for grieved family.

Meanwhile, the hundreds of the people from all walks of life, participated in Quran Khawani held at far-off bordering village Siyal Jattan-Sabzpeer in Pasrur tehsil here along with the Sialkot Working Boundary for the eternal peace of the departed soul of deceased Pakistani prisoner Shaukat Ali , who was brutally tortured to death in an Indian jail.

Special arrangements for Quran Khawani were made at village’s nearby empty fields and ground. The Fateha was also offered for eternal peace of departed soul.

Special prayers were offered for his eternal peace while the Ulema belonging to all schools of thoughts also paid rich tributes to Shaukat Ali, during their Jumma Sermons in almost all the Jamia mosques in Sialkot district.

The visiting people also laid the floral wreaths at the grave of Shaukat Ali at village Siyal Jattan-Sabzpeer, besides, offering Fateha there.

In Pasrur a large number of the local people including women and children, staged demonstration in the village and chanted anti-India slogans, saying that the India is itself biggest terrorist of the world. The local people said that Shaukat Ali was the hero of the nation. They also knighted him as “Shaheed” martyr.

Another slain Pakistani prisoner Shaukat Ali (32), who died in an Indian jail near Sri Nagar a week ago, belonged to bordering village Siyal Jattan-Sabzpeer of Pasrur tehsil near Sialkot here.

Shaukat Ali was the second Sialkot based Pakistani prisoner killed in Indian jail during the last ten months after Sana Ullah, who died in another Indian jail. Sialkot based Pakistani prisoner Sana Ullah was tortured to death in an Indian jail near Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in May 2013.

Grieved family added that Shaukat Ali, the only son of his parents, had been an industrial worker at a soccer balls manufacturing factory in Sialkot. He had mistakenly entered into an Indian territory through the zigzagged Sialkot Working Boundary near bordering village Bajra Garhi-Sialkot in February 2011 (three years ago). He had married eight years ago but he had divorced his wife due to some domestic disputes.
