KARACHI:Police on Tuesday claimed to have killed a bandit and arrested one other in injured condition in an encounter in Defence area of Karachi. According to police, the encounter took place between the bandits and a Shaheen Force team in Phase-II of Defence area in the metropolis and robbers when the police officials rushed to a street where bandits alleged were looting the citizens. In the crossfire, a bandit, Ali Akbar, was killed while his accomplice got arrested in injured condition.

The police also claimed to have recovered five stolen mobile phones from the dacoits. They said that six cases were registered against Ali Akbar in Defence, Gizri and Darakhshan police stations. The detained bandit was identified as Hussain Shah, who was booked in five cases at the police stations in Orangi Town, Site A, Darakhshan, and Yusuf Plaza. Further investigation was underway, the police said.
