SIALKOT: Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif has ruled out any possibility of suspension of the legal process against Pervez Musharraf and has made it clear that trial would be completed against him. He said that no one was above the law in the country. Musharraf has no moral courage to face his trial in the court.
He stated this while addressing a largely attended meeting of the lawyers held at District Bar Association (DBA) here Saturday. MPA Ch. Muhammad Ikram, President PML-N Sialkot District Idrees Ahmed Bajwa and President DBA Shahid Mir were present on this occasion.
Khawaja Asif said that the present government was striving to find out a peaceful solution to burning issue of militancy and terrorism in the country. He said establishing of durable peace in the country was the top priority of the government. He said that government was battling for the survival of the country. He said that government was sincere to ensure the result-orientated ongoing peace talks with Taliban. However, it would be a great national loss if talks remain failed.
Federal Minister disclosed that the federal government would bring as many as 1600 to 1700 megawatts electricity in the national grid in April 2014, which would help to reduce the electricity load shedding in the coming summer season.
He urged that masses to end the unnecessary use of electricity in the peak hours, besides, ensuring the early closure of all the markets, bazaars, shops and shopping centers in the evening. He said the government would soon announce a schedule in this regard.
He said that the devaluation of US $ was an indicator of success of government’s positive and effective economical policies. Khawaja Asif announced Rs. 5 million special grant for Sialkot District Bar Association (DBA) on behalf of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He said that 100 beds well-equipped cardiology would start functioning at Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital Sialkot in June 2014. He said that the Sialkot Campus of the University of Punjab would also be established soon adjacent to the ground of Govt. Jinnah Islamia College Sialkot for providing the higher education facilities to the local students at local level.
Later, Khawaja Muhammad Asif inaugurated the newly established block of additional classrooms at Govt. Girls Degree College Hajipura Sialkot, besides, laying the foundation stone of reconstruction of Hajipura-Daska Road.
