PM Shehbaz directs to expedite work on wind power, solar projects

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday directed to expedite work on the projects of solar and wind power to overcome the energy crisis in the country.

According to a report, PM Shehbaz presided over a high-level meeting on renewable energy sources in Lahore. The Prime Minister termed encouraging electricity generation from solar and kinetic energy sources as the government’s top objective. He claims that renewable energy sources will produce low-cost, environmentally friendly electricity.

The PM expressed sorrow that the previous administration did not complete the work begun on solar and kinetic projects during the previous PML-N’s regime. PM Shehbaz claimed that the entire nation is suffering as a result of the previous administration’s criminal irresponsibility and incompetence.

The Prime Minister stated that the government’s 10,000 MW solar power project is well underway. He claims that solar power will allow us to save millions of rupees on pricey imported fuel. The Prime Minister also directed that all impediments to solar and kinetic energy projects be removed.

The meeting was briefed on the country’s present capacity for solar and kinetic energy, as well as stalled projects and advancements in this area. Apart from the government’s 10,000 MW solar power project, the conference was told that other proposed kinetic and solar energy projects can generate a total of 6,000 MW of low-cost and environmentally benign electricity.
