Protest after power disconnection of 33 villages

Naudero: The electricity supply to 33 villages here has been disconnected for last three days by the SEPCO Naundero authorities due to non-payment of arrears of millions of rupees. These villages include Panjudero, Sallar Bhutto, Machi, Babar, Wandh Ali Muhammad Kertio, Kehar, Ghanwar Bhatti, Metla and others.

On Monday morning the villagers of Wandh Ali Muhammad Kertio blocked main Sukkur-Larkana road for four hours by keeping bushes and burning tyres due to which all kinds of traffic came to standstill. The motorists and commuters faced a lot of problems, especially patients on way to Larkana for getting treatment.

The villagers also held q protest demonstration and chanted slogans against the federal government and local SEPCO authorities.

Villagers including Tariq Chajro, Saeed Abro, Pir Bux Channo, Rafique Abro and others told media that they are regularly paying their monthly bills but their power supply has been disconnected arbitrarily.

They said that they are passing sleepless nights and criminal activities have also increased due to darkness. They appealed to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to take notice of the situation and order immediate restoration of electricity to their villages.

It may be noted here that over 14-hours a day electricity load shedding is being made in Naundero town and 18-hours in its adjoining areas against the announced policy of 8-hours a day.

Meanwhile, SDO Ghaffar Abbasi told newsmen that electricity supply to 15 villages of Garhi Khuda Bux feeder, 4 villages of Naundero City feeder-3 and 14 villages of Izzat Ji Wandh feeder has been disconnected on the direction of higher SEPCO authorities as the villagers have failed to their arrears.
