Punjab govt hikes Workers’ Welfare Fund

LAHORE: The Punjab government has taken an important step towards its pro-labourers approach as the provincial government has increased the amount of marriage and death grants for labourers, according to a report on Saturday. According to details, the Punjab Workers’ Welfare Fund has raised the amount of marriage grant for employees from Rs200,000 to Rs400,000.

It has also increased the death grant from Rs600,000 to Rs800,000. Moreover, the Workers’ Welfare Fund has released Rs200 million under the head of marriage and death grants. Punjab Workers’ Welfare Fund Chairman Asad Ullah Faiz appreciated the provincial government’s approach saying it shows government’s resolve that it gives priority to the welfare of labourers.
