Karachi: Family Physicians are the backbone of healthcare system and Dow University Dow University of Health Sciences has started a web-based electronic-Continuing Medical Education (eCME) Program for Program them about the common medical they face in their clinical practice.
This was stated by Vice Chancellor, DUHS, Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, at the inauguration of eCME Program Thursday at Arag Auditorium of Dow Medical College.
He said the family physicians are the professionals whose recognition of disease symptoms, initial intervention and planning count towards subsequent outcome of advanced and definitive management of the diseases at referral centers. Family physicians being the front liners in our healthcare system should constantly update their knowledge and skills for better healthcare delivery to the masses.
Prof. Masood Hameed Khan said that as physicians barely get free time to do physical training by attending lectures of CME, Dow University has developed this e-CME programme which will be available for learning at their home or workplace. It will save the precious time of doctors. This program will also enhance knowledge of medical and dental education of family physicians. Keeping his view, the need of the doctors, Dow University has established a Digital Library to promote computer literacy of the doctors. In future, Dow University would start preventive program for the masses.
Prof. Abdul Ghaffar Billo sharing his views said that health resources’ situation is dismal in our country therefore it is a good opportunity for family physicians to update their knowledge and skills. The trained and qualified family physician shall be able to revive and strengthen our national health delivery system and shape the future of our new generation of practitioners.
