Karachi: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) is an institution on which, anyone having association and love with great reformer and educationist Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, can feel pride for its being the fruit of Sir Syed’s educational endeavors.
This was observed by Vice-Chancellor SSUET, Prof. Dr Jawaid H. Rizvi while speaking at a reception hosted by Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) in honor of Dr. Shaheer Khan, the visiting Aligarian and a noted member of Aligarh Muslim University Alumni, Northern California.
Dr. Rizvi welcomed Dr. Shaheer Khan and appreciated his services for the cause of Aligarians at the international level.
In his remarks on the occasion Dr. Shaheer highlighted the establishment of Aligarh Muslim University Alumni USA and said that its foundation was laid in the 70s and today it has branches in 15-16 states which are playing an important role towards promotion of cause of education and Aligarh culture.
He informed that a directory of Alumni members has also been prepared containing names and addresses of some 25,000 members from 102 countries of the world. According to him many web sites have been developed on the internet in relation to Sir Syed and Aligarh Muslim University and contain enormous information about Aligarh Movement which ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan.
On the occasion he paid rich tributes to late Chancellor Z.A. Nizami and General Secretary AMUOBA, Late Mohammed Zakir Ali Khan, for the cause of promotion of Aligarh Movement. Appreciating the services of Dr. Shaheer Khan in relation to the cause of Aligarians, the AMUOBA’s General Secretary Mukhtar Ahmed Naqvi, described the establishment of Sir Syed University a great achievement of Old Boys of Aligarh Muslim University and said this exemplary feat should be chased world over.
He suggested that a campaign be launched in the US for Endowment Fund of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology.
