Extraordinary security ordered for Expo Pakistan 2013


KARACHI: The Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi, Ghulam Qadir Thebo, on Thursday directed police officials to ensure extraordinary security for 8th Expo Pakistan 2013, particularly foreign participants, to be held at Expo Centre Karachi from 26 to 29 September.

This he directed while presiding over a high level meeting at Central Police Office. The meeting was also attended among others by Director General Expo Jameel Anwar. AIGP said that extraordinary security for foreign delegates participating in the exhibition, their vehicles, residents and their travelling routes should be ensured.

“The security arrangements should be made keeping in view the past experiences of security for Expo and prevailing law and order situation,” AIGP maintained. He said that traffic flow should be streamlined as per traffic management and regulatory system besides arranging points for parking vehicles.

Director General Expo Jameel Anwar said that 1000 foreigners are expected to participate in Expo Pakistan, while 900 representatives of 150 companies from Karachi and 400 representatives of 250 companies from other parts of the country would attend the exhibition.

He said that 80 representatives from 55 foreign companies are taking part in the exhibition. It was told in the meeting that 20,000 trade visitors from Karachi and 3000 to 5000 others from across the country will participate in the exhibition.
