Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 42% of Pakistanis believe that economic growth should be the most important goal of the country for the next ten years.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “People sometimes talk about what the goals of this country should be for the next ten years.
Would you please say which of the following goals you consider to be the most important?” Responding to this, 42% claim that a high level of economic growth is the most important goal for our country, 38% believe ensuring the country has strong defense forces is a major goal, 14% believe that most important goal to achieve is giving people more say about how things are done at their jobs and in their communities whereas 5% believe that the most important goal is to try and make our cities and country side more beautiful.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1200 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 04, 2012 – October 19, 2012. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 percent at 95% confidence level.
