Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, a substantial majority of Pakistanis (90%) believed that honest, free and fair elections would play a very important role to help ordinary Pakistanis live a good life.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Some people think that having honest and free/fair elections makes a lot of difference in their lives; others think that it doesn’t matter much.
Do you think that honest and free/fair elections play an important role in deciding whether you and your family are able to live a good life?” Responding to this, 46% believe that honest elections are very important to help them live a good life, 44% it is rather important while 7% believe it is not very important. However, 2% believe that honest elections are not at all important.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1200 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 04 to 19, 2012.
