Arrest of resistance leaders, activists in IOK denounced
Srinagar, March 26, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum have condemned the mass crackdown and arrest of resistance leaders and activists under draconian Public Safety Act and their shifting to outside jails, terming it a sheer political vendetta and totalitarian.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said the rhetoric of Delhi being the world’s largest democracy is mere hoax and deceit as its highhandedness has tarnished every fabric of democratic norm.
Condemning the shifting of Jamaat-e-Islami Amir, Dr Hamid Fayaz, to Kathua jail in Jammu and crackdown on freedom leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, JKLF and other pro-freedom organizations, the APHC chairman said every political event brings worries and miseries for the helpless inmates of Jammu and Kashmir. As the activities in the name of election are on peak, India has opened the doors of prisons, interrogation centers and police stations, he added.
Syed Ali Gilani said that to make this militarized election drama a success every sane voice for basic and fundamental rights was strangulated through the barrel of gun and by the blunt sword of investigating institutions. He said that suppressing genuine aspirations of people through unparalleled force and might had always catastrophic ramifications and non-resolution of this nuclear flashpoint had proved it many times.
“Nobody on earth has ever succeeded in curbing the freedom sentiment and India stands as an example itself. So early it realizes the reality, better it will be for the world in general and South Asia in particular,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat forum in a statement condemned ban on Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and said raids are being conducted on JKLF activists and leaders across Kashmir in an open attempt to crush the people’s genuine right to dissent. It also denounced mass crackdown and arrest of resistance leaders and activists.
