Karachi: A least two people died and more than 40 injured when a powerful explosive device fitted in a motorcycle went off here on Tuesday.
Police sources said that the bike was parked in Aisha Manzil area near the parking site of vehicles of MQM workers who had came there to attend the rally of Altaf Hussain and Maulana Tahir ul Qadri. The powerful damaged many vehicles while window panes of nearby buildings were shattered.
Sources at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said at least two people were killed and more than 40 others injured in the blast, many of them critically.
Police and rangers cordoned off the area, where severe traffic jams were witnessed after the incident.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the bomb blast, saying it was an act of open terrorism.
