QEUTTA: Quetta Valley received heavy rain while northern area received snowfall. Due to heavy snowfall Kozhak pass was closed and traffic between Quetta and Afghanistan along Quetta-Chaman highway was suspended.
Rain and snow increased cold. Due to electricity load shedding and low gas pressure people faced serious difficulties.
According to details Quetta valley is in grip of intermittent rain for the last two days. Forty millimetres of rain have fallen in Quetta during two days. Two days rains have paralysed normal life in Metropolis. Drains and gutters started boiling due to flooding of city roads at Jinnah road, Prince, road, Hockey chowk, Jan Muhammad road, Querry road, Stuart road, Imdad Chowk, Joint road and other areas. It badly disturbed pedestrian ad well as vehicular traffic.
Kalat, Khuzdar, Mastung, Taftan, Noshki, Pishin, Chaman and other areas also received rains.
Reports of heavy snowfall have been received from Ziarat, Kan Mehterzai, Khanozai, Rod Mallazai, Kozhak Top. Due to heavy snowfall at Kozhak Top road traffic between Pakistan and Afghanistan along Quetta-Chaman highway was suspended. Reports said 2.5 feet of snow has been recorded in Ziarat.
Minimum temperature recorded here Tuesday was 3 Celsius and maximum 6.5 Celsius. Westerly winds blew across the valley from 4 to 22 knots during the day today.
Met office has forecast partly cloudy weather during the coming 24 hours.
