Chief Secretary Sindh presides review meeting on anti-encroachment operation in Karachi
Karachi, January 10, 2019 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has asked the concerned authorities to expeditiously vacate the Parks, Footpaths and Immunity plots from the encroachers, in Karachi and submit the reports, thereof, within 03 days. He was presiding a high level meeting on Wednesday in Sindh Secretariat to review the status of “Rehabilitation of Parks” in Karachi. The Chief Secretary issued instructions to Commissioner Karachi all 06 Deputy Commissioners concerned KDA, KMC, SBCA, MDA and LDA to ensure encroachment from all parks and other places under reference.
The Deputy Commissioners submitted their progress on the task, according to which out of 82 in District South 52 parks has been vacated, while remaining 30 are under operation. DC West informed that only 03 parks are under encroachment, which will be got cleared within 03 days. DC Korangi elucidated that all 213 plots/parks have been vacated. DC Malir point out, “only one of total 79 parks” is being vacated.
DC East told 03 parks are being vacated while DC Central reported, 45 of total 35 parks are under operation for clearance, rest are clear. D.G. KDA Sameen Siddiqui, informed the meeting that RPT-that 27 parks of KDA are to be vacated, others are cleared. Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah categorically noted that the immunity plots reserved for schools, parks and other charity purpose should not be allotted against the specific policy.
