Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical Association PMA on Thursday has demands that the idea of evening Medical Collages should be shelved once and so for and PMDC should follow the guidelines of its mandate and the constitution as for as complete transparency in the affairs of medical education and training.
Addressing to a press conference at National Press Club NPC, PMA President Dr Azhar Jadoon said that the idea was floated to start evening classes in some public sector medical colleges from Voice Chancellor of Liaquat University of Health Sciences supposed at the meeting of PMDC which was held on April 2011 so we had opposed this basic idea.
He said this idea kind of medical education does not exist anywhere in the world and this will be injustice with the medical students and the patients.
He said that PMA feared that this exercise will turn to be money making racket to all the private sector medical colleges.
He said that PMA raised this issue for the help of Civil Society to come forward and make efforts with PMA to stop this foolish exercise in the past.
Dr Azhar Jadoon said that PMDC recently has again started to organize the evening medical collages classes at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana.
“We as a stakeholder have very serious concern about this developing situation, as we think that the medical education in the country which was already is facing a crisis will further lose its charm and dignity” he said.
He said the PMA appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto action in this regard to save the institution of medical education.
He said the PMA also concerned about the latest development in the PMDC is being car takers setup with a limited mandate.
Dr. Misbahul Aziz President PIMA, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Nizami President PMA Punjab and Dr. Ahmed Yar Medical Association were also present on the occasion.
