Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari has announced compensation of Rs. 500000 (five hundred thousand) each for the families of anti-Polio field workers who were attacked in Karachi & Peshawar and lost their lives while Rs. 200,000 (two hundred thousand) each would be paid to those who were injured during the vaccination campaign.
Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the President while strongly condemning the attack on anti-Polio campaigners has directed the law enforcing authorities to ensure safety and security of the field workers.
The President while reiterating the commitment of the Government to undertake every effort for the eradication of the disease paid rich tributes to the field workers and volunteers who were complementing the Government’s efforts for eradication of this crippling disease, says a release.
