ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted two benches of the Supreme Court for the week commencing from today Monday.
Bench1 comprises Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed. Bench-II comprises Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain.
Besides a three-member special bench comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed will hear on Tuesday a constitutional petition filed by Karachi Bar Association president Mehmoodul Hassan against summoning of Registrar by the PAC.
The benches will hear hundreds of important cases during the week including a case pertaining to huge irregularities in PIA, pleas against Sindh Peoples Local Government Act 2012, Rental Power Plants case, illegal withdrawal of millions of rupees from the Intelligence Bureau’s account by the government, LPG quota case, pleas against validity of Punishment awarded by Court Martial and OGRA case etc.
According to cause lists, no adjournment on any ground will be granted. Besides, no application for adjournment through fax will be placed before the court. If the counsel is unable to appear for any reason the Advocate-on-Record will be required to argue the case.
