Islamabad: Democracy is correlated to freedom, but it is also important to remember that democracy and freedom consists of discipline and selfless service to others, embracing the ethics of compassion and respect.” This was stated by the Danish Ambassador, Ole E. Moesby while speaking at the inaugural session of the 5th batch of the Youth Parliament Pakistan here on Thursday.
Danish Ambassador highlighted that a culture of tolerance includes debate and dynamic exchanges of opinions and arguments, which is to be seen as an opportunity to learn from others and seek the truth. “Developing a culture of tolerance is a long term undertaking that removes the roots of intolerance and is necessary for any democratic process”, he added.
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, Chairman Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly Nadim Afzal Chan, Speaker Youth Parliament Pakistan Wazir Ahmed Jogezai and Executive Director Pakistan Institute of Legislative Transparency PILDAT Ahmed Bilal Mehboob were also addressed.
On the occasion the opposition party in the Youth Parliament Pakistan YPP i.e. Green Party named its member Shahana Afsar as Shadow Youth Minister for Information.
Shahana is Member from the YPP constituency YP42Punjab25. She hails from the National Assembly constituency NA106 Gujrat-III which is coincidently also the constituency of Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira.
