ED attachment notice harassment of Shabbir’s family: JKDFP
Srinagar, March 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has termed the attaching of house of its illegally detained Chairman, Shabbir Shah, by the India’s infamous investigating agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) as a sheer example of harassing his family. The DFP in a statement issued in Srinagar said that New Delhi was continuously using its institutions to silence the Kashmiri people and harass its political opponents.
Reacting sharply to the ED order, it said the inhuman approach of New Delhi towards Shabbir Shah and other resistance leaders and activists is an ample proof that it is least bothered about the people of Kashmir and instead it is interested in the land only. To issue a notice of attachment of the house of Shabbir Shah is nothing but inhuman face of the so-called Indian democracy, it added.
“The land, 3 kanal on which the house is built, in Rawalpora area was actually purchased by the father-in-law of Shabbir Shah in 1999 on the name of his two younger daughters who later gifted 1.5 kanal each to the two daughters of Shabbir Shah in 2005. Later Shabbir Shah’s wife Dr Bilquis Shah constructed the house after 2006 by acquiring a loan of Rs 20 lakh from Kashmir Bank.
All these documents, both revenue as well as bank, have already been produced to the ED. English translation of the revenue documents was also produced to the ED officials so that they could understand it correctly. Shabbir Shah’s wife and her sisters also attended the summons of ED from time to time. Her father, who is in his late 80s, also sent written details to the ED as he was not in a position to travel to Delhi due to his illness,” the DFP added.
