Extortionists active in Punjab too, industrialists demand action

Jhang, Punjab: After Sindh, the industrialists of Punjab have also complained against atrocities of extortionists who are collecting thousands of rupees from them as well as workers on regular basis.

“So-called Labour Qaumi Movement LQM has become active in Jhang area, who is forcibly collecting Rs.20, 000 from each powerloom owner and Rs.20 from every worker,” chairman powerloom industry, Jhang, sheikh Nasir, Iftikhar Lodhi, Ashraf Chowdhry, Shaikh Wasim and others said at a press conference here on Sunday.

They told that 20, 000 workers are engaged in power looms in Jhang alone and the extortionist organization LQM’s leaders are collecting hundreds of thousands of rupees this way.

They said so-called trade union leaders have made it impossible to run the power looms and warned of closing down the business if the Punjab government did not take any action.
