FCS welcomes EU decision lifting ban on fish export

KARACHI: Chairman Fishermen’s Cooperative Society (FCS), Abdul Saeed Khan Balcoh, on Thursday welcomed European Union (EU) decision lifting ban on export of fish and prawns, which was imposed in 2007.

He expressed these views while talking to the delegation of directors of society led by Vice-chairman Attaullah Baloch at his office. He appreciated the role of President Asif Ali Zardari, PM Raja Parvaiz Ashraf, CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Managing Director Marine Fisheries Department Shaukat Hussain in this regard.

He also applauded steps taken by the FCS staff for upgrading boats, training of fishermen as per agreement with EU and the issue of residents for fishermen.

Chairman stressed that joint efforts are needed to resolve the problems being faced by fishermen community, besides improving the living standards, provision of education, health and other facilities to their children.

Secretary Fisheries Ali Haider Baloch, Manager FCS Muhammad Rafiq Suleman, Secretary to Board Muhammad Abid Arfain, officers, representatives of employs union and large number of fishermen were present on this occasion.
