Five more killed in Karachi

Karachi: At least five people including a man and his daughter were killed in firing incidents in different areas of city on Monday.

40 years old Asghar Ilyas s/o Muhammad Ilyas and his two years old daughter Zainab were gunned down by unidentified armed men near Gulberg Block5 in the limits of Gulberg Police Station. Four years old Dua, another daughter of deceased Asghar and her aunt Farah were injured in same incident that took place around 1.00am last night. The bodies and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Police said the family members were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony when attackers intercepted their car near Ayesha Manzil and opened indiscriminate firing on vehicle. Resultantly, Asghar and his daughter Zainab died on the spot and Dua and Farah sustained bullet injuries.

Separately, a truck driver namely Muhammad Arif was killed in firing of unidentified armed men near Northern Bypass, Surjani area in the precinct of Surjani Police Station. The body was rushed to ASH.

The body of a man with bullet holes, whose identity could not be ascertained, was found from Chanesar Goth in the limits of Mehmoodabad Police Station. It was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem.

Meanwhile, the body of a man, aged around 40, was recovered from bushes of Toori Bungash Colony, Orangi Town in the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market Police Station. It was shifted to ASH for autopsy. The identity of deceased could not be ascertained.

In a road mishap, 35 years old Muhammad Ali and six years old Shoaib were wounded near Defence Housing Authority DHA Phase–IV. They were crossing road when a fast moving vehicle hit them. The injured were rushed to nearby hospital.
