Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed Friday that the government has increased the salaries of the government employees more than one hundred and twenty percent during the last five years and this is the highest increase in the history of the country.
Responding to a point of order regarding the issue of non-payment of twenty percent increase in salaries during the current fiscal year budget to the employees of different departments of agriculture, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said that the increase in salaries is being paid to all the employees but the increase is not applicable to different project employees.
He, however, said that the issue will be considered and if the permanent employees are not being paid the increase then the issue will be resolved within couple of days.
Regarding the AGPR employees strike, Khurshid Shah said the government will look into the matter and will resolve it if their demands are genuine.
Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah on behalf of the Finance Minister Saleem H. Mandviwala laid before the House the Fiscal and Debt Policy Statements for the year 2012-13.
Meanwhile, MQM members staged a walkout from the House over the withdrawal of Sindh Peoples Local Government Act 2012 by the provincial government.
Replying to a call attention notice moved by Begum Ishrat Ashraf and others regarding the increase in the prices of gas for domestic as well as commercial consumers, Parliamentary Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Resources Rukhsana Jamshed Buttar informed the House that six point four one percent increase has been made in the gas tariff.
She informed the house the multi-national exploring and drilling companies are being paid in dollars and the rate of the dollar has increased.
