India targeting Gilani to break his resolve: APHC
Srinagar, July 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India is targeting the icon of freedom movement, Syed Ali Gilani, by subjecting his family members to political victimization to dent his resolve for the freedom cause.
The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said that having failed in cowing Syed Ali Gilani down despite stripping him of his political workers and advisers, New Delhi had now started harassing his family members using its investigative agencies as weapons of war. The statement said that Syed Ali Gilani’s two sons were repeatedly summoned to Delhi and now his grandson had been once again asked to appear at the headquarters of National Investigation Agency in New Delhi. Such means and illogical actions, the APHC said, cannot legitimize India’s forced control over Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar asked the Indian authorities to remove restrictions on civilian traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway and train service during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. He termed the restrictions as an anti-people move. The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of its ailing chairman Shabbir Ahmad Shah in Delhi’s Tihar jail.
Hurriyat leader Javed Ahmad was informed by a delegation of relatives of the illegally detained Kashmiris from Srinagar, Kulgam, Tral and Pulwama areas that the detainees had been kept in jails in scorching heat amid absence of basic facilities. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peer Panchal Peace Foundation, Muhammad Hanif Kalas, in a statement in Jammu said that Indian police and army were harassing the Muslims of the Jammu region without any justification.
Meanwhile, a Delhi Court has allowed the Indian Enforcement Directorate to quiz illegally detained six Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and a noted businessman in a fake case registered against them. The ED will interrogate the Hurriyat leaders, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and businessman, Zahoor Watali, languishing in Tihar jail.
The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe, Ali Raza Syed, in a statement in Brussels said that extension of President’s Rule by Indian government in occupied Kashmir would not stop the Kashmiri people from carrying forward their ongoing freedom movement.
