JI announces ‘All Parties Train March’

Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami JI here on Thursday announced the schedule of its ‘All Parties Train March’, set to began from Karachi for Rawalpindi, commencing on March 3, 2013.

Talking to media at Idara Noore Haq here JI Sind chapter amir Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui said that their train march is against the irregularities in electoral rolls and all likeminded political and religious parties are taking part in it. He said this march would ensure free and fair polls in the country and save Pakistan from terrorists and terrorism.

JI Karachi amir Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, Dr Siddique Rathore of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan JUP, Irfanullah Marwat of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz PMLN, Mufti Usman Yar of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Samiul Haq JUIS, Mehfooz Yar Khan of Awami Muslim League AML, Maulana Muhammad Ghayyas of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl JUIF, Zia Abbas of National Peoples’ Party NPP, Mustaqeem Noorani of JUP, and Basharat Mirza of Pakistan Democratic Party PDP others were also present.

Dr Huda said that the leaders and workers of opposition parties will march towards Election Commission Office in Islamabad in order to check the prepoll rigging in form of inadequate voter verification in Karachi in the absence of army personnel. “We need rectification of errors in electoral rolls before the general elections.”

He demanded implementation of the Supreme Court verdict over voters’ verification process and new delimitation in Karachi in its true letter and spirit. He said Karachi is the economical hub of the country and JI and other opposition parties will not allow any party to hold hostage the people of this city. “Holding free and transparent elections is the need of the hour to ensure a stable and prosperous Pakistan”, he added.
He hoped that the free judiciary and strong media will continue play their role in connection of voters’ verification process.
