JI, PMLN express dissatisfaction over voters’ verification process

Islamabad: Leaders of different political parties on Tuesday have expressed reservations and dissatisfaction over the ongoing voters’ verification process in Karachi. They demanded that whole voter’s verification process should be conducted under the supervision of army, in accordance with the direction of Supreme Court SC.

These views were expressed by Jamat-i-Islami JI and PMLN leaders during a joint press conference here. Mohammad Hussain Mehanti of JI, Saleem Zia, Irfanullah Khan Marwat of PMLN and Mian Mohammad Aslam JI were present on the occasion.

JI Ameer Karachi City Mohammad Hussain Mehanti urged upon the Election Commission of Pakistan ECP to conduct the voters’ verification process under army protection and to follow the SC instructions in this regard.

He regretted that the ECP had not implemented the SC verdict, adding opposition parties will continue hold protest for ensuring transparent electoral rolls. He said that SC decision on delimitation was also not being implemented.

Sectary General PMLN Sindh Saleem Zia said that we have paid full confidence on ECP and Election Commissioner and wanted to strengthen ECP more. Answering a question, he said that the elections would be held on time and delay not acceptable. PMLN leader Irfanullah Marwat alleged that government of Sindh had miserably failed in safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens.
