NAB releases Results of its 4-year Self Accountability Policy 

Islamabad, October 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):NAB is pursuing “Accountability for All” as well as Self Accountability policy which was announced by Honourable Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal soon after assumption of his responsibilities as Chairman NAB on Oct 10, 2017. Chairman had implemented his “Accountability for All policy” immediately after assuming his coveted responsibilities of NAB Chairman on October 10, 2017. Chairman had also introduced self-accountability in the bureau, which is still continuing.

The NAB has released its four years performance under Self Accountability policy under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB. NAB had initiated departmental proceedings against its 185 officers/ officials in last four years from October 10, 2017 to Oct 10, 2021, some 18 officers/officials were given major penalty and were removed from service; minor penalties to 60 officers/officials; warning to 47 officers/ officials; 30 officers/ officials were exonerated while 30 departmental proceedings against officers/ officials are under process.

Under the dynamic leadership of Justice Javed Iqbal, the bureau is vigorously pursuing accountability for all policy as per law. Under self-accountability mechanism, efficient officers are rewarded on showing good performance and likewise proceedings had started against diligent officers/officials in the light of relevant laws. The transparent and on merit proceedings has increased its prestige and image as NAB believes that actions speak louder than words.

According to Gilani and Gallup survey some 59 percent has reposed trust over NAB.NAB officers considered eradication of corruption and perform their duties in accordance with law. Chairman NAB has already directed all concerned that the accused or witness in a case should be called for any probe by writing through a letter.

No Officer/official is allowed to call an accused/witness by making a telephone call as NAB officers/officials are not authorised to call an accused/witness via telephone call. And law will deal with the violators of chairman’s orders in this regard.

Chairman NAB has directed the concerned to record the statement of the visiting accused with utmost care. The accused should be dealt with respect and care as NAB is a people friendly institute. NAB believes in protecting self-respect of accused and others.

No laxity will be tolerated in this regard. NAB has urged media not to air/ broadcast or publish any speculative or contrary to facts news items related to Bureau’s investigation, complaint verification, inquiries without confirming from NAB Spokesmen.
