NADRA issued 483‚000 Smart National Identity Cards in 6 weeks: Malik

Islamabad: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the NADRA has issued four hundred and eighty three thousand Smart National Identity Cards in a short period of six weeks.

These views were expressed while talking to newsmen here on Thursday‚ he said the smart card has a number of more facilities.
The Minister directed the mobile phone companies to provide biometric system at their franchise up to 28th of next month to block issuance of illegal SIMS.

He said requests have been received from Punjab‚ Sindh and Balochistan Governments for closure of mobile phone service in different cities tomorrow from seven in the morning to ten p.m. due to security reasons.

Rehman Malik said that he had received no intelligence of terror attacks on Eid Miladun Nabi.
To a question‚ the Interior Minister said former OGRA Chairman Tauqir Sadiq’s name is still on Exit Control List.

To another question‚ the Minister said the arms license will now be valid for five years instead of one year. The licenses will be issued after complete scrutiny, he added.
